However, his side are already targeting attacking options ahead of the summer window, including one player who could prove to be excellent value for money.

Everton interested in signing talented free agent

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Everton are interested in signing Fulham attacker Bobby Decordova-Reid during the summer transfer window.

The 31-year-old Jamaican forward is out of contract at the end of the month and has been offered a new deal at Craven Cottage, but Dyche’s side could offer him a longer-term contract to tempt him into swapping London for Merseyside.

He featured 33 times in the Premier League during 2023/24, scoring six times, the third most of any player within Marco Silva’s squad.

The report goes on to state that Leeds United are also in the race for his signature, but, undoubtedly, the Toffees have the advantage over Daniel Farke’s side given their Premier League status.

Decordova-Reid, formerly of Bristol City and Cardiff City, is a versatile option who is capable of playing on either side of midfield, as a central striker or even as a right-back, potentially allowing the club to forget about loanee Jack Harrison.

How Decordova-Reid compares to Harrison

During the 2023/24 campaign, Harrison joined Dyche’s side on a temporary basis after Leeds’ relegation back to England’s second tier.

The 27-year-old Englishman featured 29 times for the Toffees in the Premier League, scoring just three goals in an all-round disappointing season for the forward.

However, upon the expiry of his loan move on Merseyside, rumours were linking Harrison with a return to Goodison, following his parent club’s failure to return to the Premier League following the play-off final defeat against Southampton.

Despite the interest, Everton can forget about re-signing the English forward, and pursue a move for Decordova-Reid, who would prove to be an upgrade on the former Toffees loanee.

In the Premier League, the “immense” talent, as dubbed by former boss Scott Parker, has dominated the one-time Everton loanee in all attacking aspects – potentially a huge benefit given the Toffees' lack of goals this season.

Decordova-Reid has contributed with more combined goals and assists, with his tally of 2.1 shots per game nearly double that of Harrison in 2023/24.

He’s also completed 75% of his passes, 10% higher than Harrison and also winning more aerial duels per 90, demonstrating his qualities with his feet and in the air.

The potential to get the Jamaican on a free transfer would be excellent business, with Dyche able to dramatically improve his forward options whilst complying with the league’s PSR rules.

In a hefty but affordable price, Rangers must now make a decision in the coming months, with Clement personally looking to welcome the winger back following his loan spell in the season just gone. Whether those at Ibrox decide to give the Belgian what he wants remains to be seen, however, ahead of his first full season in charge in Scotland.

Rangers only saw glimpses of "creative" Cortes in loan spell

After a frustrating injury cut his loan spell short, Cortes is at risk of becoming a Rangers case of what might have been if he doesn't seal a permanent move to Ibrox this summer.

The winger, in the six Scottish Premiership games that he did play managed one goal and one assist as he started to find his feet, before injury struck just one month into his loan spell. Described as a "creative" by Football Talent Scout's Jacek Kulig, Cortes now needs a consistent chance to prove himself in Scotland.

It's certainly a positive sign that Clement wants to sign Cortes too, who must have made an impression on the Rangers manager. Meanwhile, the fact that he has continued his recovery from injury in Scotland suggests that he is well aware of the unfinished business that he has at Ibrox to create an interesting few weeks.

If that is to be the case, then Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite will be the most expensive assets likely to leave, with Newcastle United interested in the former and both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United reportedly eyeing a move for the latter. Both exits would ease Everton's financial concerns but, in doing so, significantly weaken Sean Dyche's squad, which seems unlikely to receive fresh reinforcements without a takeover.

What's more, Branthwaite and Onana may not be the only players to depart. According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are now plotting a move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they look to deal Everton a double blow and a third frustrating exit of the summer, should Onana and Branthwaite depart.

Suddenly, the Toffees would be left without a starting centre-back, starting midfielder and starting striker in what would be a summer full of negatives at Goodison Park. Whilst Calvert-Lewin has had his injury issues, given the departures already on the cards in Merseyside, the forward is one Dyche should be looking to keep hold of.

If Everton had the financial backing, then landing an adequate replacement for Calvert-Lewin would be an ideal next step following his injury struggles, but whilst they remain without that, the forward remains important, especially if he does avoid any further absences.

Dyche is certainly a fan too, having told BBC Sport back in April after Calvert-Lewin scored in a shock win against Merseyside rivals Liverpool: "I thought he was excellent. His physical performance was outstanding. This season has not been too bad on the injury front. But it shows it does take time mentally and physically to clear your mind of that and start to play freely again."

In 26 starts, the England international finished on seven goals and two assists in the Premier League this season with four of those goals coming in Everton's final seven games.

It's the type of form that has seen Newcastle emerge as a potential destination, but also the kind that would finally end Everton's search for a consistent goalscorer again. That said, Calvert-Lewin looks likely to have a decision to make this summer, one way or another at Goodison Park.
